988 National Suicide and Crisis Lifeline
988 is the national suicide and crisis lifeline that offers statewide access to crisis services via call, text, or chat, aiming to reduce the need for hospitalization or detention. Individuals can access free and confidential crisis services for both youth and adults by dialing 988. The hotline is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by trained crisis specialists. Services provided encompass phone consultations, referrals to community resources, next-day behavioral health appointments, and mobile response options. “Mobile response” entails either responding directly to the crisis location or meeting individuals at another secure community venue.
