Wm. Andy Thomas, MA, CCJP, MARS

Andy joined MCRSP in June 2020 as its Housing Director. At MCRSP, he is responsible for overseeing the NARR accreditation process for recovery homes across the State of Missouri. He also works with MCRSP’s housing task force to develop policies and procedures for recovery homes in the state and oversees data collection of recovery homes. Andy graduated with his bachelor’s degree from Columbia College in 1979 and a master’s degree from Lincoln University in Criminal Justice in 1981. He began his career with Probation & Parole in 1983 at the Moberly Correctional Center as an Institutional Parole Officer. In 1986, Andy transferred to the field office in Columbia, MO as a Probation & Parole Officer. In 1992, he went to work for Johnson County Community Corrections in Olathe, KS as an intensive supervision officer. In 1996, he returned to Missouri Probation & Parole, where he remained until he retired in August 2015. As an officer, Andy has done electronic monitoring, intensive supervision, and Treatment Courts. He spent the majority of his career as a Probation & Parole Officer assigned to Treatment Courts in Boone County from 2002 to 2012. In 2012, he was promoted to Unit Supervisor and continued to work with Treatment Courts. In 2015, Andy became employed at Reality House Programs, Inc. as a substance abuse counselor for the Federal Program and Boone County Treatment Courts.
In 2002, Andy became certified as a substance abuse counselor by receiving his CCJP and in 2020, he received his Medication Awareness Recovery Specialist certification. Andy is an active member of Missouri Association of Treatment Courts (MATCP) and is currently on the conference planning committee. He served on the board for MATCP from 2014 to 2020.
Andy has been married for 33 years and has two children and a dog named Sophie. His hobbies consist of riding his bike, hiking and remodeling his home.
